The mother of an 8-year-old girl who died during catastrophic flooding at Camp Mystic in Texas received something “very special” after her death. In one of two letters written to her mother, Blakely McCroy said she was having an “amazing” time at Camp Mystic, according to People.

Blakely McCrory, an 8-year-old from Bellaire, wrote her mom a letter from Camp Mystic before she died in the July 4 flood.

Young girls, camp employees and vacationers are among the at least 120 people who died when Texas' Guadalupe River flooded.

Texas inspectors approved Camp Mystic’s emergency plan just two days before devastating floods killed over 27 people, mostly children, at the Texas summer camp.

At Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp in Hunt, Texas, where officials are grieving the loss of 27 children and counselors, belongings of the young campers were strewn about the flooded floors of a dormitory, while other items, including a pink backpack and a Camp Mystic T-shirt, were found along the bloated Guadalupe River, photos show.

Taaffe called the counselors at Camp Mystic “heroes” and wore a tie to honor them and the young girls who died during the Central Texas flood.
