The NASCAR Cup Series held its inaugural race in Mexico City to adoring crowds. Did the race live up to expectations and should the series return?

Here are the updated NASCAR Cup Series point standings after Sunday's Viva Mexico 250 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, which was won by Shane van Gisbergen.

NASCAR heads back to the United States after a trip to Mexico City. The first Mexico race may not be the last. Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez hosted Xfinity Series and Cup Series events over the weekend.

The Viva Mexico 250 will be aired on the radio by the Motor Racing Network. MRN has affiliates all across the country, and their feed can also be streamed on NASCAR.com as well as the NASCAR app. The race can also be heard on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Shane Van Gisbergen was not to be denied Sunday in Mexico City, putting on an incredible run in the closing laps of the event to win the Viva Mexico 250, his second career win in the NASCAR Cup Series.
