Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nicolas Roy is chomping at the bit to contribute to the winning ways of his new team. Roy was acquired as the primary return piece in the monumental sign-and-trade with the Vegas Golden Knights that saw Mitch Marner leave behind his childhood team on Tuesday.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman first broke news of the ongoing sign-and-trade negotiations between Maple Leafs and Golden Knights on Saturday. “On-and-off this week, Toronto and Vegas have been discussing the possibility of a sign-and-trade involving Mitch Marner,” he tweeted Saturday.

Mitch Marner will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1. But the Maple Leafs appear to be ready to take action if he quickly signs with the Golden Knights.
