Much has been made about the current situation involving the Boston Red Sox and superstar slugger Rafael Devers. By now, you surely have at least heard the short of it. If not, there has been drama as the Red Sox have a big hole at first base with Triston Casas done for the year and the team asked Devers about moving to first base and he made it clear that he didn’t want to.

The Boston Red Sox star went from an offseason third base to DH move, to a trade desire, to a pull back of that request, to a nightmare start to the season, to his usual slugging ways, and now into the latest controversy. The Red Sox need a first baseman after Triston Casas' season-ending injury, and Devers doesn't want to do it.

Spotrac puts his market value at 12 years, $539 million. ESPN's Jeff Passan also recently had Tucker in his rarefied air of players who could sign $500 million contracts. And if the Cubs are the ones making that happen, it's pretty unlikely they'll then turn around and trade for the roughly quarter of a billion dollars left on Devers' deal.
