The Boston Red Sox could have a widening rift between the coaches and executives after the shocking Rafael Devers trade.

“Devers was humiliated [by the Red Sox],” Ramirez told MLB insider Héctor Gómez. “It’s not about pride or ego. I think the team didn’t respect him or communicate with him properly. I’m sure they didn’t do that to [Roger] Clemens. I can’t imagine the Yankees telling [Aaron] Judge, ‘Now we’re moving you to catcher.’”

Anthony was the youngest Red Sox player to debut since Rafael Devers, who was traded to the San Francisco Giants in a blockbuster deal Sunday night. Coincidentally, Devers also hit his first major league home run against the Mariners, in July 2017.

The Mariners were shut out 2-0 on Monday night, falling to 0.5 games back of Boston in the wild card race. The two teams are now 2-2 against each other on the season, setting up the final two games of this series as crucial for tie-breaking purposes.

The Boston Red Sox have won six straight games, and have reintroduced themselves to the American League Wild Card race.
