WESTFIELD – For the fourth consecutive year, a member of the Westfield Starfires was selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, as right-handed pitcher Cole Raymond was taken in the 17th round, 499th overall, by the Los Angeles Angels.
While the external expectations weren’t high for the Angels after they lost a club-record 99 games in 2024, they believed in their young core and surrounded them with several key veterans.
The Los Angeles Angels chose right-handed pitcher Tyler Bremner with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, passing on Kade Anderson, who MLB ranked as the second-best draftee in the class and top pitcher.
Since returning from the injured list on May 30 due to a bone bruise on his right knee—the same knee he had surgery on last season due to a torn meniscus—Trout has been a full-time designated hitter for the Angels.
