As Florida prepares to open a new immigrant detention center deep in the Everglades, the state’s Republican Party is capitalizing on the moment with a new line of merchandise, branded with the nickname “Alligator Alcatraz.

The state filed a 22-page response to a motion filed by Friends of the Everglades and the Center for Biological Diversity seeking a temporary restraining order to halt the facility.
