Israeli forces are supposed to begin withdrawing from the Philadelphi Corridor, a sensitive border zone between Gaza and Egypt, this weekend.

The corridor includes the Rafah crossing, which was Gaza’s only outlet to the outside world not controlled by Israel until the Israeli army captured the entire corridor last May.

Several Palestinian homes caught fire on Monday after Israeli army fire in Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip, witnesses said.
