While there is plenty of excitement for Notre Dame football, on Sunday evening, it was announced that former Irish defensive tackle Oliver Gibson had passed away at 53-years old putting a damper on the good mood.

The former defensive tackle with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals, was 53. His family announced Gibson's death on June 29.

On Sunday, the family of former Notre Dame and NFL defensive lineman Oliver Gibson shared that he had passed away. The cause of his death is unknown. He was 53 years old. He was a fourth-round pick in the 1995 draft by Pittsburgh and played for the Steelers until 1998.
