A joint investigation by the Miami Herald and WLRN, published on Tuesday, revealed that a Brightline passenger train has killed on average someone every 13 days of service. In addition to the deaths, there have been 99 injuries and over 100 vehicle collisions.
In a markup session Monday, a House subcommittee proposed slashing the transportation department’s discretionary spending by over $3 billion.
The proposal would “create opportunities to usher in a profitable Golden Age of rail travel for passengers and truckers,” officials said.
