Activision is once again in trouble with fans over generative AI. Just one week after it admitted to using generative AI in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for a number of assets, the publisher is now being accused of using generative AI again to promote a different game: Guitar Hero Mobile.

As many have pointed out the art used in the Guitar Hero Mobile announcement was egregiously bad, and not necessarily even created with more modern image generators. Suffice it to say then that Guitar Hero Mobile might be dead on arrival, especially with stiff competition like Space Ape's excellent BeatStar still being popular.

Activision appears to be fully embracing AI production, as it recently confirmed some assets in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 — such as Calling Cards — are created using the tech. The most infamous was a six-fingered zombie Santa Claus.

Activision appears to be gauging interest in new Guitar Hero, Call of Duty and Crash Bandicoot games using AI generated adverts for non-existent titles. Adverts for Guitar Hero Mobile, Call of Duty: Zombie Defender and Crash Bandicoot Brawl have recently been appearing on the company’s social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.
