Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum says boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. wasn't arrested earlier in Mexico because of his time spent in the U.S. American authorities announced Thursday that Chávez was detained in California for overstaying his visa and lying on a green card application.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Friday that she expects boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr to be deported to Mexico to serve a sentence for arms trafficking after being detained in Los Angeles by U.

Julio César Chávez Jr., son of boxing legend, was detained by immigration authorities over visa issues, criminal charges and alleged cartel affiliations.
