The Pittsburgh Pirates will have one of their rookies make their first MLB start in their next game. The Pirates announced that they will have rookie right-handed pitcher Braxton Ashcraft make his first MLB start against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field on June 23.

Yelich is poised to do damage as he profiles extremely well against Ashcraft’s pitch mix, where he throws four different pitches at least 18% of the time. Isolating those four, Yelich is hitting .415 with a .268 ISO and 57% hard-hit rate over the last month.

Milwaukee has won four straight games and seven of the past nine games, including yesterday’s 9-8 thriller over Minnesota. The Brewers swept the Twins by scoring 35 runs over three games to the Twins’ 14. The Brewers and Pirates split the first series of the season, 2-2 in Pittsburgh.
