Sudiksha Konanki, 20, was last seen at around 4:50 a.m. Thursday while walking on a beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic authorities said.

Sudiksha Konanki was traveling with six other female students in Punta Cana when authorities said she drowned in the ocean.

Authorities in the Dominican Republic are searching for a student from the University of Pittsburgh on the Caribbean nation’s east coast.

Deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department said they were called on Jan. 23 for a reported kidnapping that involved a woman brought to the area from Pittsburgh.

Sudiksha Konanki, a college student at the University of Pittsburgh, was first reported missing on Thursday, while traveling with a group.

A man from Pittsburgh has been arrested after police said he kidnapped a person, described as a female, and took the victim to the Morgantown, West Virginia, area. Investigators said the victim was also from the Pittsburgh area.

A West Virginia man was arrested after TSA intercepted a gun at the Pittsburgh International Airport. The handgun was found at a security checkpoint in a carry-on bag on Wednesday. It belonged to a Morgantown resident. TSA said they are on pace to set a record for most guns caught at the airport in a year.
