Founded in 1791, the University of Vermont (UVM) is the fifth-oldest college in New England after Harvard, Yale, Brown and Dartmouth. UVM stands for the Latin: Universitas Viridis Montis, which means University of the Green Mountains.
The University of Vermont said a fire broke Friday around 2:40 p.m. at the Jeanne Mance Hall dormitory. The university said fire and emergency personal responded and put out the fire, and no injuries have been reported.
