More than 130 people have been confirmed dead after flash floods devastated Central Texas in the early morning of July 4, according to local officials and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

Local officials in Kerrville, Texas, say they have received death threats amid public scrutiny over whether more could have been done ahead of this month’s deadly storm and flash flooding.

“We have families that have been completely displaced,” Brighton said. “For a lot of these families, the flash floods came quick and were unexpected.”
