After all the progress he showed in his previous start Tuesday and the praise lavished upon him for the turnaround he seemed to make after three straight rough starts, it was hard to tell what to make of Sunday’s so-so showing in the Rays’ 5-1 loss to the Orioles.

Taj Bradley has had a rough June. He gave up 19 runs over a three-start spa, and he was shaky enough that there was legitimate concern heading into his start last Tuesday at Kansas City. But all he did was pitch six-plus scoreless innings.

As hot as the Rays have been lately, with 26 victories in their past 37 games, it almost feels unusual when they don’t find a way to win. But there was no dramatic rally in store on Sunday afternoon.
