Mario Kart World is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, which means it is not available on Switch 1 or any other Switch consoles. Nintendo has said that Mario Kart World essentially wouldn't have been possible on the original Switch - it needs the features and specs of the Nintendo Switch 2 to run how the developers intended.

Hori’s Pro Deluxe and Pro Mini racing wheels were released for the original Switch but they work just as well with Mario Kart World on the Switch 2.

Critics generally agree that Mario Kart World ticks this box, with the game currently sitting at an 87 average on Metacritic after the first wave of reviews, which have been drip-fed onto the internet after Nintendo made the decision not to offer media early access to the Switch 2 or its launch line-up.

In case you somehow missed it, during the Switch generation, Japanese accessory maker Hori actually released two officially licensed racing wheels designed for use with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. At the time, many fans of the series weighed up if they would be worth the investment in the long run.
