Ahead of the NBA draft, the New Orleans Pelicans sent Olynyk to the Wizards along with CJ McCollum and a future second-round pick. The Pelicans received Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and the No. 40 pick in return.

The Washington Wizards struck a deal to send Olynyk to the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday afternoon, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. In exchange, the Wizards will receive Malaki Branham, Blake Wesley and a second-round pick in next year's draft.

While the Spurs have focused on youth and development the last couple of seasons, the trade for Kelly Olynyk signals a shift for the Spurs.
