Denis Villeneuve, the visionary behind “Dune” and “Arrival”, is officially set to direct the next James Bond film, unofficially titled 26.

Denis Villeneuve is going from Dune to 007. The filmmaker has been tapped to direct the next James Bond movie, the first from Amazon MGM Studios. Tanya Lapointe, Villeneuve’s artistic partner and wife, will serve as an executive producer, along with Villeneuve. As previously announced, Amy Pascal and David Heyman will serve as producers.

It was the hiring decision made in fanboy heaven. Amazon MGM Studios selected Canadian director Denis Villeneuve as the filmmaker to helm the next installment of the James Bond franchise - the first with a new lead as 007.
