The White House’s move to take control of which outlets participate in the press pool is a break from a century of tradition with the White House Correspondents’ Association.

The Biden administration issued policy changes to White House press pass holders that resulted in hundreds of reporters losing their passes.

D: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the White House would now determine which outlets will be members of the press pool, the smaller group of journalists who are allowed in to events in the Oval Office or travel with the president on Air Force One.
