Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova says she plans to retire in a few months. The announcement on social media comes a day after Kvitova was granted a wild card for Wimbledon.

Throughout her nearly two-decade professional tennis career, Kvitová has won two Wimbledon Championships, in 2011 and 2014, and six Billie Jean King Cup trophies, which is the world’s largest annual international women’s tennis team competition. Achieving this feat ranked Kvitová as No. 2 in the world.

The Czech, who turned pro in 2006, won her maiden Grand Slam five years later at The Championships by beating Maria Sharapova in the final and also achieved a career-high ranking of No. 2 the same year. Three years later, the 35-year-old - who has 31 titles in her collection - lifted her second Major at The Championships.
