Elon Musk said on Monday he does not support a merger between his electric vehicle maker Tesla and his artificial intelligence startup xAI, which owns the Grok chatbot and competes with the likes of OpenAI's ChatGPT.

In addition to calling for the oversight on Musk's political endeavors by Tesla's board, Ives, a prominent voice in the tech world, also recommended that the board establish a new pay package for Musk that would limit his voting control to 25% and establish guardrails on how much time the tech mogul spends at Tesla.
Musk's announcement comes hours after xAI debuted its latest flagship AI model, Grok 4. The 54-year-old discussed the recent innovation during a nearly hour-long livestream shared on xAI's X page, during which he did not mention the chatbot's integration into Tesla vehicles.
