As the push toward Windows 11 continues, Microsoft confirms that Windows 10 users will lose support for apps including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Windows 10 isn't the only Microsoft product that is due to lose support this coming October. In a blog post published Wednesday, the software giant said Microsoft 365 apps (aka Office) will no longer be supported in Windows 10 after Oct. 14, 2025. To continue using Microsoft 365 or Office, the company urges users to upgrade to Windows 11.

“Microsoft 365 Apps will no longer be supported after October 14, 2025, on Windows 10 devices,” the company confirmed. “To use Microsoft 365 Applications on your device, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11.”

Despite what you might read on the internet today, Microsoft is not killing off Microsoft 365 Office apps on Windows 10.

Microsoft has confirmed it will no longer support Office apps referred to as Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 by the end of this year.

Designed to replace the current Mail and Calendar apps, the new Outlook can only be removed after it's been installed.

The apps will still work after Oct. 14, but users should be prepared for 'performance and reliability issues over time,' Microsoft says.
