In an interview with Variety, HBO boss Casey Bloys addressed the future of The Last of Us, which has undergone some creative shake-ups in recent weeks – as well as nailing down a release window for The Last of Us season 3.

HBO CEO Casey Bloys has confirmed that The Last of Us Season 3 is slated for a 2027 release. Showrunner Craig Mazin is deciding whether to structure the season as one long installment or two separate parts.

It’s the last of “ The Last of Us ” with video game creator Neil Druckmann. The TV series co-creator announced that he will no longer be part of the HBO show ahead of its third season.

In addition, Halley Gross has also announced she will no longer be working on the HBO series. Gross previously co-wrote “The Last of Us Part II” with Druckmann and worked as an executive producer and writer on the HBO series.

Nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards were announced today, and HBO's The Last of Us--based on Naughty Dog's video game series--scored numerous nods.
