The telecom giant will pay out $177 million in relation to two recent data breaches affecting current and former customers.

Both current and former AT&T customers in Michigan may be eligible for a payout from a $177 million settlement connected to two data breaches. A U.S. judge granted preliminary approval on June 20 to a settlement that resolves lawsuits against AT&T over incidents in 2019 and 2024.

In 2019, cybercriminals accessed Social Security numbers, birth dates and account details of over 51 million customers of the communications company. AT&T confirmed the breach in March 2024, prompting lawsuits that accused the company of failing to protect user information.
