NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Attorneys for Kilmar Abrego Garcia asked a federal judge in Tennessee on Friday to delay his release from jail because of “contradictory statements” by President Donald Trump’s administration over whether or not he’ll be deported upon release.

Attorneys for Kilmar Abrego Garcia and federal prosecutors filed motions Friday requesting the courts delay his release from custody to prevent possible deportation before his trial concludes.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man mistakenly deported to El Salvador and then returned to the US on criminal charges, asked a judge to delay his release from jail for fear of being deported again before trial.
